After visiting Trapani countryside, Monique Soltani comes to the Etna volcano to reveal the secrets of the mountain viticulture to American Winelovers

Monique Soltani, one of the flagships of the international winescape comes to Sicily with Wine OH Tv, the American TV Channel completely addressed to wine lifestyle. After 2016 experience in the Trapani countryside, the journalist has decided to visit Firriato once again to tell the unique quality expression of what wine can reveal in this island.

Exploring Etna: Sicily’s Hottest Wine Region” is now on air on Wine Oh Tv https://wineoh.tv/exploring-etna-sicilys-hottest-wine-region-video.
It was realised together with GranVia Società&Comunicazione . The episode starts in Catania, the capital of Sicilian Baroque, to reach the Cavanera Etnea Estate, on the nord slopes of the volcano in Contrada Verzella.

In this corner of the Volcano, Federico Lombardo di Monte Iato, Firriato’s COO paves the way to the vineyard, a treasure of more than centenary ungrafted vines of the prephylloxera period, growing in the typical mineral soil of the Etna, one of the most active volcano worlwide.

Being with Monique – Federico Lombardo says- compared to the last visit made in the Trapani countryside, has been an important moment to enrich each-other. It is up to peolple the ability to share the wine knowledge , especially of such production places just like the Etna one, where the mountain viticulture is a precious heritage to safeguard”.

In the Cavanera Estate Firriato grows only the native traditional vines of the Etna: Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio for red grapes and Carricante and Catarratto for white grapes.
From these grapes some particular wines come out, like the Gaudensius Blanc de Noir , classic method (Nerello Mascalese), Le Sabbie dell’Etna Bianco ( Blend of Catarratto and Carricante), Le Sabbie dell’Etna Rosso ( Blend of Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio) and the two outstanding Cavanera, precious wines of Firriato. The episode concludes with the wonderful landscape of Taormina, tasting other interesting Firriato’s wines.
