Trapani – August 8, 2014 – After 90 points by Robert Parker, another prestigious award adds to the rich palmares of Santagostino Rosso 2011 Firriato. Wine Spectator, the most influential magazine in the world of wine, gives an amazing score of 91 points in this historic label of the Sicilian brand known all over the world. An unstoppable success for a label entered the hearts of many fans winelovers.

“Santagostino Red – says Federico Lombardo of Monte Jato, marketing manager of Firriato – is an elegant wine that never fails to excite those who drink it. Label icon Firriato, is considered one of the best Sicilian red wines for enjoyment and drinkability. A pioneer in the association of indigenous and international grapes, where the expressive power of Nero d’Avola meets all the elegance of Syrah. Today, this recognition of Wine Specatator, makes us proud and confirms the validity of a choice that combines tradition and innovation. “
A result of great evidence that rewards, once again, the production philosophy of a company that has dedicated itself to a business plan focused on enhancing the uniqueness of the terroir Sicilian: from the estates of the province of Trapani, the area most vineyards of Europe, to the vineyards located on the slopes of Etna, rising from the viticulture practiced on the ‘island of Favignana. The Red Santagostino Baglio was born in Sorìa, in the heart of western Sicily, where the sea breeze touches the elegant geometry of the vineyard. Here, in the 80s, began the great dream of maison Firriato: the estate is nestled in one of the most authentic and fascinating corners of Sicily and vineyards blend harmoniously into the stunning natural scenery bordering the natural reserve of the salt pans of Trapani and Paceco. The international varieties fail to make the most of their potential qualitative, because of the favorable climatic conditions of the territory of Sorìa able to ensure a perfect synchrony between the sugars and the phenol. The Syrah, present in Santagostino Red, is particularly characterized by elegant tannins, while on the front of the native Nero d’Avola gives persistence and a class incomparable to a wine that has now entered the history of modern Sicilian oenology.
