Awarded DNV-GL certification for Carbon Footprint

Trapani (Sicily) – Firriato confirms its commitment to enological excellence through scrupulous attention to the ecosystem. earning two certifications by DNV – GL, one of the most prestigious environmental agencies in the world.

A second certification, ISO14067 Carbon Footprint, specifically relating to one of Firriato’s best known wines originating in the Cavanera Estate on the north-eastern slope of the Etna volcano, “Le Sabbie dell’Etna Bianco Doc,” was awarded to the Sicilian producer for the reduction of environmental CO2 emissions throughout  the entire production cycle, from the vineyard to bottling.

The ISO 14067 Carbon Footprint Certification enables worldwide comparison of carbon footprint data.   It has been developed to increase transparency in the quantification and reporting of CO2 emissions over the entire lifecycle of products and services:  from production to recycling or disposal of waste. Carbon footprint assessment can inform efficient energy practices and reveal those processes leading to pollution.
