FIRRIATO CELEBRATES THE HEROIS VITICOLTURE AT EXPO 2015 IN MILAN

the Speak-easy dedicated to the “heroic viticulture” Tenuta Calamoni.

 

Firriato celebrates the mediterranean heroic viticulture to MILAN EXPO 2015. The program of the first day of the Pavilion of the Mediterranean Bio Cluster will be entirely dedicated to the territories of the smaller islands of Sicily: Monday, May 4, from 19:30 to 21, will be able to retrace the steps the glorious past of the Egadi, who owe their fortune to the tradition of fishing and tuna processing.

 

The appointment of Firriato, programmed according to the format of the speak easy – Mediterranean cultural aperitif, will alternate on stage the testimonies of Vinzia Novara Di Gaetano, Federico Lombardo of Monte Jato, marketing manager, and agronomist Tanino Santangelo, who will explain to the public this heroic enterprise milestones accomplished by the historic brand of Sicilian wine on the island of Favignana. The speak easy will be moderated by journalist Mauro Remondino, the Courier will develop with the guests the theme of heroic viticulture on small islands and on wine production niche that few terroir can today boast.

 

In 2011 sees the light “Project Insulae” with the acquisition of five acres just a few steps from the cliff of Calamoni: in an extraordinary rocky outcropping, tuff and red sand, were planted native varieties planted sapling, a system traditional viticulture of the smaller islands of Sicily, particularly suited to withstand the marine environment and the strength of the wind. The sea has a fundamental role in shaping the organoleptic properties of the grapes that come to Calamoni, contributing to the complexity of the components of salt and minerals. The three labels Favinia Firriato are the only production this archipelago.

To enrich the meeting, there will be a tasting of typical products of tuna paired with wines Favinia Firriato: The trawlers, a blend of Nero d’Avola and Perricone, and The Muciara obtained dall’uvaggio Grillo, Catarratto and Zibibbo. At the end of the delicious Passulé, a raisin Zibibbo with grapes harvested in Favignana.
