With the latest ranking of “The Wine Advocate”, a confirmation for Firriato Winery that receives a rating of 90 points up to three labels that have made the history of the Sicilian brand in the world. Scores are truly excellent: 91 for Ribeca 2011 91 for the Quater Rosso 2010 and 90 points for the Santagostino 2011. A result of strong evidence that rewards, once again, the production philosophy of a company that has dedicated itself to a business plan centered on the exploitation of Sicilian grapes and uniqueness of the terroir.

Ribeca is one of the top wine of the house Firriato, made from grapes Perricone grown on the estate native of Pianoro Cuddia, in Trapani’s countryside. The 91 points awarded by the prestigious american guide for vintage year 2011 due recognition for their continued commitment and production for, amongst wineries on the island, bet on Perricone, its recovery and its international revival.
Quater Red is the result of the happy meeting of four indigenous grapes red grape Nero d’Avola, Perricone, Frappato and Nerello Cappuccio. Four Crus, who after following each different wine-making process, blended together to create a wine that embodies and expresses itself in the best of Sicily.
Santagostino Red is definitely the label icon Firriato, considered among the best Sicilian red wines for enjoyment and drinkability. A pioneer in the association of indigenous and international grapes, the expressive power of Nero d’Avola meets all the elegance of Syrah. This label has been able to conquer the most demanding wine lovers and gather support around the world.
“We are very proud – says Federico Lombardo of Monte Jato, marketing manager of Firriato – the latest results released by Wine Advocate. The rating system used by Robert Parker is inflexible and votes in excess of the 89 points are allocated to only those wines that, in the process of tasting, reveal the characteristics of exceptional complexity and character. We are not therefore surprised by these scores, all three labels in fact speak of authentic Sicily and true. The spotlight on indigenous varieties, not just Nero d’Avola but also lesser known varieties that, after years of neglect, to leave the place with international varieties, are now their own right. Firriato immediately understood the potential of these varieties. And ‘the case of a vine like Perricone: we wanted a wine that would tell the second Firriato Sicily, where complexity and elegance play a complementary role and foreground. The Ribeca is one of our flagship labels, constantly rewarded in excellence, as well as confirm the marks awarded by Wine Adovocate of some years, more than 90 points. “
