Firriato, the wine quintessence of Sicily, is once again pleasing the palates of wine lovers nationwide with its “Wine Dinner Tour,” a dedicated series of wine tasting events taking place in some of the most significant restaurants throughout the United States. Firriato is committed to educating the American audience about the Sicilian oenological culture though its signature Authentic Terroir techniques. Consumers from the West to the East coast will have the opportunity to appreciate the wide range of aromas and palettes in a culinary journey of Sicily, masterfully prepared to match Firriato’s top lines of wines, including Altavilla Grillo, Chiramonte and Harmonium Nero d’Avola, Ribeca Perricone, Jasmin Zibibbo and L’Ecru Passito.

The Sicilian wine landscape is well known and appreciated in the North America market. In its “winescape,” Firriato is positioned as a driving force of Sicilian native grape varietals. Sicily, with its 32k+ hectares of vineyards, is the Italian region with the highest area of viticulture, with significant growth in recent years. “We are emerging as a new voice in the American market,” says Federico Lombardo di Monte Iato, COO of the company and Firriato’s voice of the Tour. “Remarkable ratings and recognitions, including the recent inclusion of our Harmonium at the Wine Spectator’s prestigious Wine Experience, points out that Firriato is marching in the right direction. In our bottles, American consumers can find structure, balance, and intense bouquet: a new romance in the old art of winemaking.

To enhance the experience, celebrated Chef Gaetano Basiricò of Restaurant Serisso 47 (Trapani) is authoring some of the memorable menus, eliciting the freshness of Firriato’s white wines and highlighting the elegant body of its reds. There wines are produced at the six winery’s estates: Baglio Sorìa, Borgo Guarini, Dàgala Borromeo and Pianoro Cuddìa located in the Trapani countryside, Cavanera Etnea on the slopes of Mount Etna, as well as Calamoni on the island of Favignana: a unique mosaic of terroirs capturing the vast kaleidoscope of expressions of this region, often referred to as a “wine continent”.
