Exclusivity, glamour and great Firriato’s wines. October 16th, Experiencing Firriato is going on stage in the suggestive setting of Villa Miani in Rome, where you can enjoy one of the most enchantful landscapes of the Eternal City. An event extremely desired by Di Gaetano family in order to celebrate the relation between Firriato and Rome, but also the presence of the brand in the Capital.
A unique unmissable meeting will enable guests of this soiree to discover the wide and varied Firriato’ s world by a discovery travel through Sicilian Terroir. Over the time, Salvatore and Vinzia Di Gaetano , today supported by daughter Irene and her husband Federico Lombardo di Monte Iato, have been able to create a production reality that has remarkably marked the winemaking history of the island. The milestone of this success is extremely linked to a production philosophy based on respecting land, a philosophy aimed to deeply know every single part of the vineyard where “the custodians of the Authentic Terroir” work and take care of every single production step from the vineyard to the winery. This is the reason of the excellent Firriato’s winemaking to achieve outstanding productions able to express the identity of the land of origin, awarded wines by critics and appreciated by worldwide winelovers. Since the ‘80s so far, the Di Gaetano family has been collecting high value viticultural jewels represented by its six estates ( Baglio Sorìa, Borgo Guarini, Dàgala Borromeo, and Pianoro Cuddìa, within the Trapani countryside, Cavanera Etnea on the slopes of the Mount Etna and finally Calamoni on Favignana island) able to communicate the unique mosaic of the greatness of the viticultural Sicilian continent.
Firriato’s Sicily of wines will go on stage in the wonderful and bright rooms of this neoclassic villa. Built in 1873, this historical villa will host nine wine tasting stands enabling guests to experience a peerless sensorial travel , discoverying the richness and complexity of Firriato’s terroir in every glass of wine.
Let’s start with sparkling wines, from the refined bubbles of the two classic method of the winery: Gaudensius Blanc de Noir (Etna DOC) and Gaudensius Blanc de Blancs, to the intense perlage of the charmat method of Saint Germain, passing through the exuberant sparklings of Charme Bianco and Charme Rosé. We will continue with the timeless classic Reds and Whites including Firriato’s historical labels.
There will be also stands dedicated to the wines of Favignana, with Red and White of Favina range, or the Volcanic wines Cavanera and Le Sabbie dell’Etna. These sips have to be considered as the main expressions of the heroic viticulture of the sea (Favignana island) and the mountain viticulture (Mount Etna) carried out by Firriato. Another tasting stand will be reserved to organic wines embodied by Caeles line, very representative of the green heart beating in the inner part of Firriato winery. Umissable tasting stand will be that one dedicated to Firriato’s Cru belonging to Top wine line: Harmonium, Ribeca and Camelot; labels that have nestled Firriato’s name among the heavens of the most important names of the Italian winescape. Last but not the least the tasting stand dedicated to natural sweet wines, with passito wines L’Ecrù and Passulé and muscat wine l’Ocra. Real extremely pleasant jewels , mostly loved by wine specialists. Moreover, a reserved special area will be set for connaisseur experiencing vertical wine tasting of some of the special reserves of Di Gaetano family.
Experiencing Firriato will be also a real plunge into frangrances and aromas of Sicily. Over the soiree, there will be a time-space for quality gastronomy with two cooking showes. Michelin starred Chef Vincenzo Candiano of the La Locanda di Serafino located in Ragusa will propose a sophisticated moment of hedonism , cooking “corallini pasta creamed with Ragusan caciocavallo cheese and braised pork with rosemary aromas” innovative interpretation of a Sicilian recipe, able to amaze and excite.
On the other hand , rising star of italian cooking Valentina Chiaromente will propose a “salt cod with mousse of bagna càuda”, expressing the creativity of this chef. Another gourmet moment will be focused on discovering Sicilian delicatessen presented by each producer. In the tasting stands you will have the opportunity to pair Firriato’s wines with gourmet street food offered by FUD Bottega Sicula, ingredients under the protection of Slow food association like Consorzio della Vastedda del Belice’s cheeses or the Nero Siciliano of La Paisanella’s cured meats. Another space has been reserved to the Ragusan donkey cured meats of Il Chiaramontano, tuna delicatessen of Nino Castiglione, or snail caviar of La Lumaca Madonita business, Campisi’s preserves, Bufala dairy products of Babalus, and panettone with hand-made creams of Di Stefano Dolciaria. Mineral water will be offered by Plose business.

The soiree soundtrack will be offered by the classic music of the Filarmonica di Benevento, offering a musical framework including: a trio of flutes, a string quartet, a clarinet and a harp.
