AN ELEGANT TOAST

Gaudensius

The perlage of Gaudensius to wish you a wonderful 2017

An Italian spumante on New Year’s Eve is the most suitable wine to close a chapter of life and open a new one. The countdown before midnight concentrates in 10 seconds all the emotions and expectations for the 365 fresh days that lie ahead. Bottles in hand, capsules and muselets removed, we keep our thumb on the cork being careful to uncork at midnight sharp. We at Firriato hope that, after a refined dinner, Gaudensius will be the wine taking you into the new year. Because if sparkling wine is a must on New Year’s Eve, we believe that there is no better choice than this classic method sparkling wine that originates from our Cavanera Etnea estate. Our Nerello Mascalese grapes are raised in the heart of the Etna DOC area. As soon as they are harvested, they get a soft pressing and go through temperature controlled fermentation with secondary fermentation in the bottle according to the classical method. The wine is aged in the bottle in contact with the lees for at least 32 months with frequent “coups de poignet” to enhance its olfactory complexity. A sparkling wine for a memorable New Year and a whispered invitation to elegance and joy.

Saint Germain

From hors d’oeuvres to the midnight toast with the freshness of Saint Germain

And to all those that will open their New Year’s Eve dinner with crudités or seafood, to those who love delicate cheese or fresh fish, we believe that a glass of Saint Germain is the ideal companion from the hors d’oeuvres up to the midnight toast. Because Saint Germain is not just a sparkling wine for New Year’s Eve but an ally of pleasure and happiness that we hope can keep you company throughout 2017. The Martinotti (or Charmat) method applied to our grapes from the Borgo Guarini estate near Trapani gives racy bubbles to this perky blend of Catarratto and Grillo which combines freshness and balanced acidity. Mellow notes of white fruits and Sicilian citrus are in perfect harmony with delicate mineral notes. All in all, Saint Germain is a sparkling wine ideally suited to drinking through the evening on New Year’s Eve.
